Arsenal will always be a subject of transfer speculation from this till day the 31st of August so we’ll have to brace ourselves up for the news the media Vultures will feed us with. Starting with the old transfer suspects, Tottenham are gearing up a player plus money move for Arsenal’s target Chris Samba. It is rumoured that Robbie Keane, Jermaine Defoe, Sebastien Bassong or David Bentley could be used in making the deal possible. Samba has reiterated his desire to join Arsenal but Blackburn want to cling to him at all costs. I don’t know Arsenal’s take on this but Tottenham is a club that knows how its money where its mouth is and it would be very embarrassing if Tottenham hijacks Samba’s move to Arsenal after many months of courting the player.

Still sticking with news involving Arsenal and Tottenham, the media Vultures also report that both clubs are in talks with FC Cologne’s over the services of their key player Lukas Podolski. Podolski is a player that will add depth to Arsenal’s squad but there are too many players in that section of the team. With Nasri’s future still in doubt, Podolski will be a very good replacement because he’s adept on the left hand side of attack as well as the center forward position. He won’t be a player that might command a mammoth fee but we’ll have to keep our fingers crossed as the days go by. Arsenal legend, Nigel Winterburn has backed Wenger to sign Hitler…..Joey Barton but it seems as if Tottenham is leading the chase to sign the renegade.

£27m-rated Karim Benzema has been labeled as a transfer target for the Gunners this summer but he has come out to say that he hasn’t heard anything from Arsenal. Benzema would be a very good signing for Arsenal because van Persie is a player that cannot be trusted on to say fit all season long. Chamakh hasn’t been too impressive in this pre-season adventure so far but I’m hoping that he’ll come good soon enough. Arsenal has also been linked with another youngster that’ll win the league in 2020; a Real Madrid youngling called Jose Rodriguez.

Moving over to possible departures, it seems as if Barcelona is going to make a new bid for Fabregas. I don’t know if it would be up to the £40m that Arsenal is requesting for but it’ll certainly be better than the meager £26m that they offered weeks ago. Fabregas’ mind is certainly not in Arsenal and his exclusion from the Emirates Cup without injury certainly raised a few eyebrows. If Barcelona makes a bid that’ll satisfy Wenger, Gazidis and the fans, we’ll waste no time in saying sayonara to El Capitan. He has been longing to warm Barcelona’s bench and I’m pretty sure that he’ll get his chance if the offer is right.

Sir Alex Ferguson won the league last season and has done a lot of reshuffling in his squad. Stalwarts like Edwin van der Save and St. Paul Scholes retired from the beautiful game while other loyal servants like John O’ Shea and Wes Brown were sold to his former apprentice Steve Bruce but he wasted no time in signing replacements like David de Gea, Phil Jones and Ashley Young. Samir Nasri was a target for Sir Fergie but he has told everyone that he’s not interested again in Arsenal’s maestro.

However, Sir Alex is very surprised that his rivals haven’t been active this summer knowing fully that they need to improve on their squad’s quality if they are to displace his Red Devils from the top. Chelsea did well to overcome all adversity to usurp Arsenal from 2nd place and they were very close to Premier League glory if they’d won Manchester United in Old Trafford. Villas-Boa Constrictor’s squad is aging rapidly so he needs to meet the club’s U.S.S.R. dictator to release funds for his proposed transfers.

We all know Arsenal’s present situation in terms of transfers but I must say that Liverpool will certainly be a team to watch out for this upcoming season even if their pre-season hasn’t been too impressive. The 3-0 loss to Hull City as well as the 3-3 draw with Valarenga sent a clear message of their defensive frailties.

In other Arsenal transfer news, Kyle Bartley has signed a new deal and Carl Jenkinson wants to push for Sagna’s jersey. I wonder what Farmer Eboue has in mind about the rise of Jenkinson.

I’m going to contest for a football quiz that takes place in Ikeja tomorrow. The winner stands a chance of walking away with N1,000,000 so wish me luck 🙂

In as much as I know a lot about Arsenal, I’ll have to brush up my football knowledge in football in general.

Good luck in the contest. I hope we get Benzema I think he’s a real talent up front and with NickyB out the door and Chamakh cant score he would certainly help.

Thanks. Benzema’s price will still be a stumbling block though. It’s Arsene the Economist we’re talking about here
