Yaya Sanogo
Welcome Yaya!

The Gunners have finally delved into the transfer window to make a signing.

Well his hair isn’t really bushy and he doesn’t share the same first name with Arsenal’s shisha smoker-in-chief. He’s also not an Argentine goal poacher that was born in France.

Arsenal is delighted to announce the arrival of French sensation, Yaya Sanogo. The youngster’s time at AJ Auxerre was plagued with a plethora of injuries (I can see Diaby smiling somewhere) but in 21 appearances in three seasons, Sanogo notched up 10 goals. It’s always worth noting that nine of those 10 goals were scored last season, in just 13 appearances.

Arsene Wenger has also voiced his opinions about the young lad,

“Sanogo is a good young signing for us. He has shown that he has potential with his recent performances for Auxerre and also for the France Under-20 side. We are looking forward to Yaya joining us and continuing his promising development.”

A few weeks back, the lad spoke about how Wenger came to pay him a surprise visit in a French hotel which convinced him that Arsenal was the club for him. Rolling back the years, Arsenal took a somewhat similar approach when the club wanted to convince a young Aaron Ramsey from Cardiff that North London was the place to be.

In both cases, Arsenal showed their desire to seal deals for these lads and were willing to go that extra mile. I wonder why this hasn’t been done for the likes of players as key as Marouane Fellaini and Gonzalo Higuain, who we believe is still on his way to the Emirates.

I won’t be quick to bring out my torch and pitchfork on the signing of Sanogo because he’s a typical Arsene Wenger signing – cheap, shrewd and relatively thought-of. The YouTube folks have also done their bit to wet our appetites.

For a young player under the spotlight, scoring nine goals in 13 league games, albeit the French Ligue 2, is pretty impressive if you ask me. He also plays like a target man, as he’s good at holding up play and linking up with his teammates. He also offers a physical presence in attack and has raw reserves of pace as well.

Many have even likened him to Romelu Lukaku but in my honest opinion, a loan move to a mid-table outfit could do his world some good. However, my major challenge with Sanogo remains his countless injury problems.

“I wanted to stop [playing]. I told myself it was useless to go on and to imperil my health.

“I could not run any longer. I had too much pain, the doctors didn’t know what to do. But, one day I went for a jog and step by step I made my way back.”

If these words mean anything to us, we can only hope that his injury days are well behind him. It’s not like he’ll be the first player at the club to suffer long term injuries. Get in line mate!

I hope he is not another Abou Diaby, full of talent and promise, bit always injured. Love the potential here. Could be a star in the future, if he stays fit.

I really hope that his signing would be a preview of things to come.

Welcome Yaya and I hope you have a great time developing yourself with Arsenal football club.

Seen him play quite a bit at the u20 tournament. Seems strng, cn hold up play , powerful left foot, more of an adebayor gangly type than lukaku if u ask me. Hopefully his injuries are behind me. Still a bit green tho. A loan would b good 4him.

I agree to your opinion that he should be loaned.. But I think if Arsenal are not loaning him then he could make a COC appearance or FA cup appearance. I don’t think he will be straight away given a chance in the first team.

      Same here.

I don’t expect him to walk into the first team.
