Reviewing Saka’s Virtuoso Performance Against Southampton

Bukayo Saka was Arsenal’s undoubted Man of the Match when the Gunners defeated Southampton in the Premier League.

Arsenal fell behind in surprising fashion when Matheus Fernandes dinked the ball to Cameron Archer that still had a lot to do, but still managed to get the ball under control and side-footed it past David Raya. Arsenal grabbed the equalizer when Saka teed up Kai Havertz that took the ball in his stride before prodding the ball past Aaron Ramsdale with a well-taken effort.

Saka was on hand for the second goal when he floated the ball to the far post and was finished aplomb by Gabriel Martinelli. With Southampton going for broke, Arsenal caught the visitors on the break and Saka capitalized on some shoddy defending to put the icing on a well-baked cake.

Analyzing Saka’s performance against Southampton

Saka put up some monster numbers in Arsenal’s win over Southampton. In addition to the goal and two assists on the night, Saka created seven chances, created three big chances, had a total of seven shots with an accuracy of 67 percent. His expected goals was 0.31 and his xA was an amazing 0.93. He had 71 touched with 15 at the opposition box and swung in six corners.

It was an exemplary performance from Saka and he will be looking to build on it when Arsenal visit Bournemouth after the international break.
