Arsenal interested in Bundesliga star

Arsenal’s slump continued with an unfortunate loss to Internazionale in the Champions League when Hakan Calhanoglu converted a penalty caused by a Mikel Merino handball in the 18-yard box.

Arsenal went into the game without Declan Rice after the midfielder picked up a knock in the narrow loss to Newcastle United over the weekend, adding to the paucity of options for Mikel Arteta’s men in defensive midfield. With Jorginho entering the September of his career and Thomas Partey heavily linked with a Bosman move to Barcelona next summer, Arsenal will need to delve into the transfer market to sign a suitable replacement, especially with the fact that Albert Sambi Lokonga is unlikely to stay at the club after the completion of his loan spell at Sevilla.

Despite the fact that Arsenal remains hopeful to agree a new deal with Thomas Partey, the possibility exists that the Ghanaian may not chose to renew and start a new adventure with Barcelona. With the Catalan giants not having any recognized defensive midfielder in their ranks, Partey has a good chance of walking straight into the first team and he will require no adaptation having spent considerable time in La Liga before his move to Arsenal four years ago.

According to Caught Offside, Arsenal is interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt’s Swedish wonderkid, Hugo Larsson. This youngster is one of the hottest prospects in Europe, and getting his signature will be an indication of the club’s ambitions to invest in young talent for the future.

However, it seems like both clubs are far apart in their valuation of the player, with Frankfurt expecting €70 – 80 million for Larsson’s services, while the Gunners will be willing to pay only €40 million.

One can assume that Arsenal is just testing the waters with Frankfurt and time will tell on the club’s genuine interest with their prized asset in the foreseeable future.
