Apologies and the preview for a game that has already been lost

I would want to apologize to all my esteemed readers about the post i published earlier today about leaving WordPress.com to join Blogspot.com. These two blogging hosters are very good in their own special way so I’ve come to realize that if I’m to ever breakaway from WordPress.com, it should be to my own personal domain name. This is something that i intend to do in the near future but I feel that I should continue flying with WordPress till the time cometh. I’m deeply sorry for my last post so I hope that you my esteemed readers with find a soft spot in your warm hearts to forgive me.

The match review blog for Arsenal vs Aston Villa will come tomorrow but I’ll leave you with the preview that i wrote earlier.

Yesterday the Red and light Blue half of Manchester erupted in celebration because both sides gave their fans something to cheer about for all eternity or so. Man Utd put themselves in the record books by winning their 19th straight title to usurp Liverpool as the best English team in the business while Man City won their first ever trophy in a lifetime or so. Man City will play Stoke Rugby FC in the league again but they can claim top spot from Arsenal should they win the game and Arsenal drop more points this afternoon.

Before I write about team news, I’ll give a brief round-up of the affairs going on in a World called Arsenal. As expected, the media Vultures are back in business with their transfer speculations again. Andrei Arshavin has been the subject of so much drama involving a homecoming back to Zenit but the Vultures say that my birthday mate Carlo wants the diminutive Russian to pack his bags and make a move to West London to ‘join him at Chelsea’. These guys should have come up with some better. Why on Earth will Arsenal sell one of their best players to a club where he’ll probably haunt them in every competition they play. The last time we made a deal with Chelsea, the two players involved were not in the best of terms with their employers. Chelsea’s Mercenary of a center back threatened to score an own goal while Arsenal’s Cuntly left back went behind the scenes to hook up with Chelsea’s execs. Whether it’s Zenit, Chelsea or Olympus FC, I wouldn’t want to see Arshavin leave the club. It’s true that you can count a large number of games he has been below par this season but the pygmy still produces moments of high quality at times you wouldn’t expect him to.

His unpredictability acts like a plus and minus sometimes but we have to stick to a player like AA23 because even if it seems as if Walcott has taken over his place, Arsenal is an injury prone squad so Arshavin will surely get his chance to strut his stuff when needed. He opened his goal scoring account against Blackpool from 12 yards and he also scored the winner against Blackburn in August, 3 goals in September against Braga, Tottenham (Carling Spoon) and Partizan. Overall he has notched up 10 goals for Arsenal with the most notable the winner against Barcelona. Selling a player like Arshavin will be disastrous to Arsenal so I just hope that the media Vultures are pulling our legs.

The media Vultures also say that Bayern Munich have ‘set their sights’ on Samir Nasri and are willing to offer £25m for his services. I still don’t know why the bloke hasn’t signed a new deal but I hope that AW will do enough to convince the chap that the grass s not always greener on the other side. In as much as Nasri has developed into a stunning player, I don’t think it might be that easy for him to break into Bayern’s setup because of the presence of Robben and Ribery but he will be an able replacement because the aforementioned players have this knack for getting injured. Even if AW would love to sell off a few players to make more quid, Samir Nasri shouldn’t be among them. He’s just 23 so his best years are still ahead of him. I hope that he’ll be wearing the Red and White for years to come, not the striped Red and White of Bayern by the way.

Moving over to the order of the day, Arsenal are set to host a side that has probably been guaranteed Premier League safety so I don’t expect the encounter to be feisty. It’s also amazing to know how Aston Villa has plummeted into mediocrity since the departure of Martin O’ Neill. Under the Northern Irish manager, the Villans challenged regularly for a UEFA Cup (now Europa League) spot. There was even a season where Aston Villa were 4th and would have displaced Arsenal from joining Europe’s elite competition but a poor run of form at the business end of the season saw Arsenal finish way ahead of the Purple wearing outfit. Their record signing Darren Bent has been a constant thorn in the flesh in this second half of the season so Arsenal’s back four have to be wary of the threat he’ll pose. They also have that ‘Young’ combo down the left so Sagna and Walcott should also be on the alert.

To Arsenal team news, Wojciech Szczesny will play his penultimate game in what has been a fantastic season for him. I still don’t know if Fabianski can reclaim his spot back but AW has the final say on which Polish basket he’ll like to lay his goal keeping egg. Sagna and Clichy will continue their wonderful work at both full back positions. The highly overused Laurent Koscielny will be out of action for today so all eyes will be cast on the Verminator, who’ll make his first return into first team action after 7 good months out of business. Only the good Lord knows how our defense would have been if Vermaelen played many games. He’ll be partnered by Djourou. I’ve not seen these two play together so I’ll like to see how they’ll connect. Should AW fail to sign a center back in the summer, this is the defensive partnership we might expect to see week in week out.

Fabregas and Diaby are still out so we might see the midfield that started against Man Utd and Stoke Rugby FC, Wilshere, Song and Ramsey. Ramsey was at fault in the second goal Arsenal conceded but that’s old news. It’s the present and the future that matter right now. Nasr is also out so the attacking triumvirate will be Arshavin, Walcott and rVp.

This is to all my readers and the Arsenal and sports websites that made Gooner Daily a reality.
