Manchester City 2-2 Arsenal: Player Ratings

source: Imago

Life after Martin Odegaard continued as Arsenal visited the Etihad Stadium to take on Manchester City. A great performance in the first half saw Arsenal score two well-taken goals, but a red card to Leandro Trossard swung the game to Manchester City’s favor. After a siege in the second half, Arsenal conceded at the death to end the game in a 2-2 draw.

Without further ado, here are the Gooner Daily player ratings.

Defense

David Raya – Despite conceding two goals, Raya was in the firing line and made many outstanding saves. (8)

Riccardo Calafiori – Was culpable for the first goal after he was evaded by Savinho. Scored a wonderful curling effort to open his Arsenal goalscoring account. (7)

Gabriel – Another monster performance with a big header that put his side ahead. Worked tirelessly in defense to try to keep Manchester City at bay. (9)

William Saliba – Worked very hard in defense and could have done better to sync with Gabriel for the opening goal. (7)

Jurrien Timber – Put up another combative display and made a talented winger like Jeremy Doku ineffectual. (8)

Midfield

Thomas Partey – Didn’t play too well but tried his best. (7)

Declan Rice – Worked very hard in midfield and did his bit to support the team that was in the back foot for the entirety of the second half.. (7)

Leandro Trossard – Really let his team down by getting sent off when the wind was in their sails. You’d expect a player of his experience to do better. (4)

Forwards

Gabriel Martinelli – Worked effortlessly on the left and teed up Calafiori for a good assist. (7)

Bukayo Saka – Wasn’t an influential game for the Arsenal captain. Swung in a delightful ball for the Gabriel goal. (6)

Kai Havertz – Worked tirelessly for the team but didn’t influence the game from an attacking third. (6)

Substitutes

Ben White – Was actually injured but still made himself available to do a job for the team. Class. (7)

Jakub Kiwior – Was unfortunate for the deflected effort that fell kindly for Stones. (6)

Gabriel Jesus and Lewis Myles-Skelly – Didn’t play long enough to get a rating.
