Roy Keane tells Mikel Arteta to show some class after Manchester City draw

Mikel Arteta offered injury update regarding Arsenal playmaker Martin Ødegaard after the Southampton clash

Roy Keane has called out Mikel Arteta for his post match comments after the Manchester City vs Arsenal game at the Etihad on Sunday.

The Spaniard has every right to be furious over the result after his team played with 10 men for most of the second half, and the fact that his team conceded the equalizer when the initial added time was over.

The two title contenders played a very intense 2-2 draw at the Etihad, with Gabriel and Calafiori on the scoresheet for Arsenal and Haaland and Stones on the scoresheet for City.

The headlines were dominated by the refereeing performance of Michael Oliver on Sunday. The incident most Arsenal fans are furious over is Leandro Trossard being sent off after a second yellow card just before half time.

This led to Arsenal having to defend for most of the second half, something Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva has called out Mikel Arteta for.

Roy Keane asks Mikel Arteta to show some class

After the game Mikel Arteta rightfully criticized the refereeing performance, something that has not gone down well with Roy Keane. The ex-Manchester United captain told the Arsenal boss to ‘move on’:

“Deep down he’ll be satisfied with a point. Just show a bit of class, manager of Arsenal, say that he probably deserved the yellow card, but we reacted well, we’re a big club, we move on quickly.”

What was said after the Arsenal game

After the game, Mikel Arteta said he was confused when Leandro Trossard was sent off:

“I prefer not to comment. I’ve seen it and it’s that obvious so I’ll leave it to you guys. I was already in big trouble trying to solve what happened on the pitch. It’s not my problem to solve what happens off the pitch.”

When asked about Arsenal’s performance on the pitch, the Arsenal boss admitted his team lost a bit of control during the match:

“We had a very difficult start. We struggled to control certain spaces we didn’t have enough ability to get out of the first 25, 30 meters of the pitch which meant that we never controlled the game. After that we understood what we had to do better and we came back in the game and were winning it. Then when we were at our best moment in the game we were given a context that makes it almost impossible for 56 minutes.”

”Anyway, we adapted to that context in the best possible way. The way the team competes is unbelievable. I’m so proud of them. You cannot be thrown in a more difficult situation against that kind of opponent. The way we handled that situation was unbelievable. I’m so proud of them.”
