Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson says he is happy to be playing football again after he scored his second goal of the season for Fulham.
The midfielder arrived at Craven Cottage on deadline day, and has already made an impression. Fulham boss Marco Silva was full of praise for Nelson after the Arsenal only had played just over 20 minutes of football for the club:
“He had a very good impact since joining,” Silva told reporters. “I know it was the international break, and not all the players were together, but he made a good impression. In the West Ham game, as expected, he gave us exactly what we needed.”

After scoring in a 3-1 win against Newcastle, Nelson said he was pleased to be at the club and thanked the fans for supporting him:
“I’m happy, over the moon, but it’s the players who have made me feel really welcome from the start,” he stated.
“There’s a lot of familiar faces that I know which made it much easier, but I’ve just been training really hard, and when the ball dropped to me I was delighted, and happy to hit the net.”
When asked about his second goal for the club, Nelson said he was pleased in the team and manager for trusting in him:
“I’m just really happy with the three points,” Nelson said. “The last game was a bit tough – they equalised at the end and it was a bit annoying for us, so it was amazing to get the three points.
“The Manager’s delighted, the players are happy, and it’s a great day for us. After last week, we had resilience to bounce back and give the fans what they wanted.
“I felt we started really, really sharp, getting the two goals. Credit to Newcastle, they’re a great team, they can score goals when they want, great players all over the pitch, but for us subs we just tried to make an impact.
“We’ve got a great team now, and for us that was our motive, to get the game going, and if we can get another goal to kill the game, that’s what we’ll try to do.”
Reiss Nelson was replaced by Raheem Sterling in the Arsenal squad, a move that Mikel Arteta said ‘needed to happen’. The 25-year old is still under contract at Arsenal until 2027. Nelson would be hoping a good season at Fulham will put him in the Gunners’ plans for next year.
