Juventus are wary of Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu’s physical condition and would only be keen on a loan move in the winter transfer window.
The Japanese defender missed a chunk of last season due to a calf injury and has missed the start of the 2024/25 campaign due to injury issues.
There is still no timescale on when Tomiyasu would return but there are suggestions that he could move on from the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.
The defender is keen to leave Arsenal in January given he has dropped down the pecking order of defenders in the Arsenal squad following Riccardo Calafiori’s arrival in the summer.
The former Bologna defender has been linked with a return to Italy and Juventus are amongst the clubs who are believed to be interested in signing him.
Juventus wary of the Arsenal star’s injury issues
The Serie A giants are expected to be in the market for players and Tomiyasu is one of the defenders the club are tracking ahead of the January transfer window.
However, according to TuttoJuve, the Bianconeri are unsure about the Japan defender’s physical conditioning given his recent injury troubles.
Juventus are wary about the fitness issues Tomiyasu has been battling since last season, which has forced him to the sidelines this term as well.
Arsenal are expected to demand somewhere around €20m before agreeing to let the player go in the winter transfer window but Juventus are unlikely to play ball on such terms.
Given Tomiyasu’s injury problems, Juventus are unlikely to offer more than a loan deal for the defender if they make a move for him in January.
The defender will have 18 months left on his contract in January and Arsenal are keen to make sure that they don’t lose him for a knocked-down price.
They could consider loaning him out only if an obligatory purchase clause is attached to the agreement.
