Martin Ødegaard has been out for some time now. The Norwegian has missed six games for Arsenal following an injury to his ankle ligament.
Ødegaard picked up the injury with the Norwegian national football team while on international duty this September. This has greatly affected Arsenal’s squad dynamics but Mikel Arteta has got the situation under control.
The Spanish manager offered some insight into the situation before the 3-1 win against Southampton. The circumstances remain uncertain as there is still no fixed date for a return.
Martin, it is very difficult. He is working so hard and pushing so it is difficult to give a timeline.
-Mikel Arteta
The Norwegian international aims at a return after the October international break. There have been no confirmations yet but Martin seems to be working hard with that goal in mind.
In the last week or so I’ve made really good progress. I’m getting better & better by the day and feel it’s going well. When you feel like things are moving forward, it gives you motivation to do more and more and work harder.
-Martin Ødegaard
The playmaker also confirmed a rapidly progressing recovery. The injury looks good and Ødegaard is taking it one day at a time.
At the moment it’s progressing well and it looks better than we were thinking, but we’ve still got to take every day as it comes.
-Martin Ødegaard
How Arsenal has adapted to the situation?

Leandro Trossard has made significant contributions to the squad in Ødegaard’s absence
Anyway, it looks as though the team don’t really need me at the moment! We have been playing so well lately.
-Martin Ødegaard
Ødegaard looks happy that the team is doing well despite missing one of their main men. The Gunners have adapted well to the situation and their unbeaten streak continues with a recent win over Southampton.
Arsenal are in third place in the Premier League at the moment and are on equal terms with Manchester City. First placers Liverpool are just one point away with all three clubs just finishing their seventh league game of the season.
The likes of Leandro Trossard have made significant contributions in Martin’s absence. Arteta mentioned that they had to be “different” following the Norwegian’s long-term absence.
We had to be different. We tried to do it in a different way, adapting a few things, and using players’ qualities, players that can play in the right position, with the right chemistry around them.
-Mikel Arteta
