Arsenal to target £67 million Premier League duo in 2025

Arsenal might prepone buying Semenyo for winter

Arsenal has been close to the Premier League title twice in the last two campaigns, narrowly missing out against fierce rivals Manchester City on both occasions.

With the 2024/25 campaign being Mikel Arteta’s sixth season at the Emirates, the Spanish manager will look to win more than the FA Cup and Community Shield.

However, Arteta is the man who got The Gunners out of probably the club’s worst crisis in history. From stooping to their rivals Tottenaham’s level to challenging for the EPL title back to back, Arsenal have come a long way under Arteta.

Whether The Gunners win the Premier League this season or not, the London-based club has already started planning for the next season. Reports claim that Mikel Arteta has already identified a Premier League duo for the 2025 summer transfer window.

According to Caught Offside, the Spanish manager is eyeing AFC Bournemouth duo Antoine Semenyo and Milos Kerkez. The Cherries value the duo at around £67 million, and the Gunners seem serious about their pursuit.

Ghanian international Semenyo is seen as a backup for Bukayo Saka. Kerkez on the other hand will probably replace Oleksandr Zinchecko and Kieran Tierney. Both the full-backs are expected to be sold in the summer of 2025.

Caught Offside also mentions that many Premier League clubs have their eye on both players. One of the major contenders is arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Ange Postecoglou seems to be a fan of Semenyo and could prove to be a fierce challenge for Arsenal. With their current performances, both the players will be due for an upgrade by the end of this season.

Arsenal and Tottenham’s rivalry could mean that the transfer would turn into a heated battle for dominance. This can also affect other transfer dynamics in relation to both clubs.

Missing out on the title will boost Arteta’s wish to plug gaps in the current squad. With a few full-backs set for departure, the Spanish manager will want to sign a replacement as soon as possible to challenge for the league title again.

Having a backup for Bukayo Saka is just Arteta’s strategy of having equal competition in every position. This ensures the best results for the squad and rapid development of players.

Semenyo’s ability to play as a winger and also as a striker and even a second striker will give Arteta tactical flexibility as demanded by the opposition.
