Like the early part of the Premier League season, Arsenal is set to embark on another tough run of fixtures in the Premier League.
If you recall, Arsenal had three tough away matches against Aston Villa, Tottenham and Manchester City. In this run, Arsenal ran out as 2-0 wins at Villa Park, even though the club would have David Raya to thank after some amazing goalkeeping heroics came to center stage, keeping the game at bay as Mikel Arteta’s men rallied late on to get all three points.
The encounter at Tottenham Stadium was different and all it took was a bullet header from Gabriel to settle the contest. At the Etihad, Arsenal went to war against Manchester City and seemed to be in control of the game before Leandro Trossard’s unfortunate red card put the team on the lurch. However, the lads defended with their lives and we’re downtrodden after Manchester City equalized with literally the last kick of the game.
Arsenal had a Premier League fixture swing that saw them host two of the three newly-promoted teams in the forms of Leicester City and Southampton, and while the Gunners were expected to have routine wins in both encounters, it was anything but that as Mikel Arteta’s dug deep to claw out victories following resilient performances from the lads.
Who are the teams Arsenal are facing in the tricky fixture run in the Premier League
Arsenal’s tough run of fixtures in the Premier League commences this weekend when the Gunners visit the Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth. Even though Arsenal ran Bournemouth ragged with a comfortable 4-0 win last season, this is a new-look Bournemouth side that are fearless and work very well on the break.
After the Bournemouth game, Arsenal’s mettle will be tested when the Premier League leaders, Liverpool, arrive at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal and Liverpool has had classic encounters over the years, and last season’s 3-1 win over the Merseysiders was enthralling to say the least. Jurgen Klopp is a distant memory but the new gaffer, Arne Slot, is cooking. Arsenal would know that they will not be pushovers and will have their work cut out for them.
Arsenal dealing with the threat Liverpool poses, Arsenal will travel to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne to take on the Magpies in their magnificent St. James Park. The encounter last season was marred by a controversial refereeing decision, so we would be hoping that there would be no case of deja vu.
The tricky Premier League fixture run ends with a visit to Stamford Bridge, a ground that Arsenal has found some measure of joy in recent campaigns. Last season was a bit tougher at the Bridge, as Arsenal had Robert Sanchez howler to thank for the brilliant Declan Rice equalizer.
