Mikel Arteta has become a sign of consistency for Arsenal fans. He brought stability to the club both in his playing and non-playing days. At the least, the Spaniard has always helped The Gunners through difficult times.
While he didn’t experience much success as a player, Arteta did win two FA Cups as the captain of the North Londoners. He was an impactful figure in the dressing room taking down the captain’s armband after Thomas Vermaelen’s departure.
Although not a club legend yet, Arteta has cemented his legacy at the Emirates making significant contributions. He was a great player but his role as the head coach seems to have garnered more attention.
Just like his time on the field, the Spaniard helped the club stabilize after he took over as Arsenal’s manager in 2019. An FA Cup win followed with that being the only piece of major silverware to his name as Arsenal’s gaffer.
Not to be underestimated though as the Spaniard has come quite close to winning the Premier League title on two occasions. The Gunners crave major titles and Arteta probably won’t be leaving unless he finishes his business at the Emirates.
A slow start for Manchester City this season has given Arsenal ample space to challenge for the title. However, Liverpool under their new manager don’t seem to be slowing down.
Did Mikel Arteta just hint at a future away from Arsenal?

Mikel Arteta won’t be hesitant to take the England job in future
Fans might think that Arteta will be there at the Emirates until he finds immense success. However, they just might be wrong in that assumption as the Spaniard hinted at an uncertain future in the pre-match press conference leading to Bournemouth.
I understand that it can feel sad for some people not to have an English manager. History tells you how important this could be as well.
I think I would take a lot of pride as well at how many people would do anything to be the England manager.
That’s related to how we’re treated in this country as foreigners, the passion, the respect, the history and the way that things are done in this country.
I can say personally that when you are not from here. I think there are very few countries that could say that.
I have that feeling towards it (the England head coach role) because I always feel respected, welcomed and inspired by this country and the history of football and how you get treated daily.
-Mikel Arteta
Thomas Tuchel was recently appointed to take the England job but his contract only runs till the end of the 2026 World Cup. If the German fails to make The Three Lions shine, Arteta might be in line for backup.
