Arsenal and Liverpool shared the points in an exciting draw at the Emirates Stadium.
Bukayo Saka opened the scoring after getting on the end of a lovely pass from Ben White, and showing great skill to cut back and finish at the near post. Liverpool equalized through Virgil Van Dijk’s header just nine minutes later.
Mikel Merino gave Arsenal a 2-1 lead just before half time; a well worked set piece paid off. The Spanish midfielder seemed to have taken Mikel Arteta’s words about winning personally in the Liverpool game. Then late on in the game, Mohamed Salah scored the equalizer.
Arsenal fans were furious at a disallowed goal, where Anthony Taylor blew before the ball entered the net for a foul.
Bukayo Saka thought Arsenal should have won

Statistics show that it was an evenly matched game on Sunday, with both teams having similar shots on goal and big chances created.
Arsenal’s goalscorer Bukayo Saka strongly believes the Gunners should have got something out of that game:
“We’re disappointed. I feel like we didn’t show our best selves for 90 minutes and it cost us in the end. We believe we should have won it.
“For sure, there’s definitely some positives – Liverpool are a top team, credit to them. But the overall feeling is that we didn’t show our best selves for the whole game, especially more in the second half, and it cost us in the end.”
Considering the form Liverpool had before the game, one could argue a draw was the best result. Arsenal don’t drift further from the top of the table; they are five points behind league leaders Manchester City.
Arsenal have missed their star man
Bukayo Saka’s performance against Liverpool showed exactly why Arsenal need their key players back. With him and Martin Odegaard out of the side, the gunners lacked creativity and attacking threat.
Which is why the opinion of BBC sports reporter Chris Wise, that Odegaard is not needed in the Arsenal team, is ridiculous.
Saka scored his 50th Premier League goal for Arsenal on Sunday, and this is what he had to say about the landmark goal:
“Hopefully that can push us to some silverware as well,” he added. “I hate to miss games, so I was buzzing to be back. I had this game in mind to come back for and I was feeling good out there, and I was happy to get an early goal.”
