Pundit says Arsenal need to improve on star striker

Arsenal have scored 17 goals in the Premier League season which ranks them sixth so far.

The gunners’ top scorer this season has been Kai Havertz with four goals. Bukayo Saka is second with three goals, and he missed a couple of games with injury. Gabriel is the third highest scorer this season with two goals.

Arsenal have had troubles in front of goal since Martin Odegaard was ruled out with injury. Mikel Arteta has faith that the current attacking options at the club can deliver. The Arsenal boss even said that Havertz could deliver 20 goals this season:

“First of all, because he’s so good, because he wants it so much and because he’s surrounded by great players around him. The fact that he’s gone through some difficult moments just made him a better player, and a great person I think.

“He certainly has all the qualities and he certainly has the ambition to [score 20 goals a season]. In the end, scoring goals sometimes are very small details and a lot of things have to go for you, but he’s got it and his mindset has changed a lot in regards to that. He certainly has ability to do it in my opinion.”

Micah Richards says Arsenal need to upgrade on their striker

Gabriel Jesus has yet to score this season despite playing in 10 games. His injury record last season also meant he has not really been reliable since he arrived at Arsenal.

Micah Richards says Arsenal need to improve on their attackers. He was speaking on The Rest is Football podcast.

“It’s how adaptable Arsenal are. You see [Thomas] Partey playing right-back, Timber playing left-back,” said Richards.

“Without key players they still managed to find a way. If they want a low block, if they want to counter-attack and still cause problems.”

“People question their mentality in terms of how they want to play but I always give a manager credit if they’re able to adapt to what the game needs and Arteta did that really well.

“I think it’s just frustrating for him [Arteta], you bring in Jesus as this striker, winger, forward whatever you want to call him and he’s not contributing enough in terms of goal threat. Maybe another forward [needs to be signed] just to help him out, relieve some of that pressure on [Kai] Havertz.”

Arsenal face Preston in the league cup in their next game. After avoiding red cards in their last two games, the team seems to be following Thomas Partey’s advice after the Bournemouth game.
