Arsenal have a lot of players that have been plying their trade on loan, with Nuno Tavares getting all the plaudits for his exceptional creative output in SS Lazio.
Reiss Nelson is another player that has found games hard to come by at Arsenal and despite signing a long-term contract that saw him stay with the club rather than leave on a free transfer, Nelson featured sparingly for the Gunners, and there were links with West Ham that never came to fruition, Fulham came calling and Nelson jumped on the opportunity.
How has Nelson fared in Fulham?
Nelson had a debut to remember for Fulham, scoring in the EFL Cup Third Round clash with Preston North End. He also scored his first Premier League goal for the club in Fulham’s victory over Newcastle and he has featured consistently for the Cottagers. So far, he has scored two goals and created an assist in nine appearances for Fulham, despite having only three starts.
Over the last two games, Nelson has been handed starts over Adama Traore and he has formed the three-pronged Hale End attack alongside Emile Smith Rowe and Alex Iwobi, supporting Raul Jimenez. Nelson has been playing very well for Fulham and Traore will need to keep impressing his coach to get his place back from the on-loan Arsenal winger.
What does the future hold for Nelson?
It has been confirmed by Reiss Nelson’s representatives that the Arsenal winger wants to leave the club on a permanent basis.
It is very clear that he does not have a future at the Emirates and with the winger signing a new deal not long ago, Arsenal can get some good cash for his departure, even I don’t believe he can command a huge outlay.
Bayer Leverkusen and Union Berlin have been earmarked as potential suitors and Nelson will have no issues with adaptation in Germany, after a decent spell with TSG Hoffenheim a couple of seasons ago.
