Rangers Will Do Everything to Bring Mikey Moore Back to Ibrox, Says Rohl

Danny Rohl has publicly committed to pursuing the return of Tottenham Hotspur winger Mikey Moore for next season, calling it a priority despite acknowledging the complexity of making it happen. The 18-year-old signed off his loan spell in memorable fashion, providing an assist in Rangers’ 5-2 win over Falkirk on the final day of the season.

Moore left the pitch with ten minutes remaining to a rapturous reception from the travelling Rangers support, who led chants of “one more year” from the away end. The scenes underlined just how much the teenager had won over the Ibrox faithful during his time in Scotland.

Rohl was clear about the club’s position when questioned about the prospect of a return. “We are very clear as a club with what we want with Mikey but there are three parties,” he said. “We are just one of them. Mikey fits really well here and I totally believe we can get him to the next level as well.”

The complicating factor is Tottenham’s uncertain position. With new manager Roberto De Zerbi expected to assess the squad during pre-season, and ongoing questions about which division Spurs will be playing in next term, no decision has been made on Moore’s future at the North London club.

Rohl acknowledged that Rangers may need to exercise patience, while also making their intentions absolutely clear. “We have to be patient with Mikey but also on the front foot. We’re clear and we will try everything,” he added.

Moore’s impact in Scotland went beyond statistics. He brought a directness and willingness to take on defenders that Rangers had lacked for stretches of the campaign, and at just 18, the scope for further development is significant. His ability to combine with other attackers gave Rohl’s side a different dimension on the left side that they struggled to replicate without him.

The outcome of this pursuit will depend heavily on what Tottenham decide after pre-season. If De Zerbi determines that Moore needs another year away to develop, Rangers are well-positioned to make their case. If Spurs want to keep him in London, there is very little Rohl can do other than wait for another window.

Either way, the public commitment from the manager sends a strong message to the player himself about how valued he is at Ibrox, and that may well prove significant when discussions between the clubs eventually begin in earnest.
