Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona have both registered an interest in Crystal Palace defender Jaydee Canvot, according to reports from L’Equipe.
The 19-year-old only arrived at Selhurst Park on deadline day of last summer’s transfer window, joining the Eagles just hours before Marc Guehi’s proposed move to Liverpool collapsed.
Guehi, who captained the FA Cup-winning side, eventually left for Manchester City in January, leaving Canvot to establish himself as an important figure in Palace’s defensive ranks.
The Champions League holders PSG had reportedly been tracking Canvot even before he left fellow Ligue 1 side Toulouse last year, suggesting their interest predates his move to south London.
Barcelona’s attention was subsequently captured by his performances for the Eagles in European competition, with the LaLiga winners now said to be monitoring his progress closely.
Despite the interest from two of Europe’s biggest clubs, it is understood that neither PSG nor Barcelona have yet moved to make anything concrete happen in terms of a transfer approach.
Canvot’s debut season at Palace was not without its difficulties, having made a costly error in the home defeat to AEK Larnaca early in the campaign.
However, manager Oliver Glasner described his performance in the Carabao Cup win at Liverpool the following week as “excellent,” and the young Frenchman has not looked back since that turning point.
Although Canvot has managed just 14 Premier League starts this season, he has been a near-constant presence throughout the Conference League knockout rounds and looks set to feature in the final against Rayo Vallecano.
His teammate Jean-Philippe Mateta is also mentioned as another player who could potentially attract interest from major European clubs during the upcoming summer window.
With Canvot’s contract at Palace running until 2029, the Eagles are under no immediate pressure to consider selling the teenager and retain significant leverage in any potential negotiations.
Palace have previously sold prominent players such as Marc Guehi and Eberechi Eze to high-profile clubs, but the club will be keen to hold onto their promising French centre-back for the foreseeable future.
Should the Eagles win the Conference League tonight, they would secure European football again in 2026/27, making a deep and competitive squad all the more essential heading into the new campaign.
