Arsenal Eye £80m Rogers Raid As Alvarez Future Casts Doubt Over Atletico Stay

Arsenal continue to be linked with major summer signings as they prepare for a historic Champions League final clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

The Gunners face the French giants on Saturday evening in Budapest, bidding to win the major European trophy for the very first time in their history.

Mikel Arteta’s side lifted the Premier League trophy last weekend following their 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Supporters flooded the streets in celebration of the north London club’s first league crown in 22 years, generating enormous excitement ahead of the Budapest showdown.

Arteta remains “fully convinced” his squad can complete the double, saying: “We have the opportunity to create new history in our club. I am convinced we are going to do it.”

The Arsenal manager also told his players: “I said to the boys that this shirt now represents something else. We are the champions, and that brings a lot of confidence and a different kind of presence and energy to it.”

Arteta added that the title success brings “another kind of responsibility,” insisting his job is to lift standards and help the club “achieve much more.”

On the transfer front, Marcos Llorente has cast uncertainty over Julian Alvarez’s future at Atletico Madrid, a development that could strengthen Arsenal’s prospects of signing the forward.

The 26-year-old has drawn interest from Arsenal, PSG, and Barcelona, with Llorente admitting to El Partidazo de COPE that he remains unsure about the Argentina international’s intentions moving forward.

Llorente said he doesn’t know what Alvarez will decide and “neither does he, as things stand today,” adding: “I don’t ask him. He seems fine to me, but maybe he wants to leave and we don’t know.”

Spanish publication Cadena SER reports that Alvarez has expressed a desire to leave Spain, which may prompt Arsenal to make an approach for the striker, who has netted 49 goals across two campaigns for Atletico Madrid.

A transfer fee reaching £90 million could be required to secure the former Manchester City forward, representing a significant financial commitment for the Gunners this summer.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers, with talkSPORT reporting that Arteta is plotting to step up his pursuit of the Europa League standout.

Early discussions have already taken place between the two clubs, with Villa holding firm on a minimum valuation of £80 million for the 23-year-old.

The Gunners appear destined for a transfer battle, with Manchester United, Chelsea, and PSG all having declared their interest in Rogers.

Rogers contributed 14 goals and 12 assists for Villa throughout the season, and it is understood he is eager to focus on the World Cup before taking stock of his future once the tournament concludes.
