Gabriel Martinelli And Bukayo Saka Spotted With Leg Strapping Ahead Of Champions League Final

Arsenal completed a light training session at the Illovszky Rudolf Stadion in Budapest on Friday morning before the Champions League final.

The Gunners are set to return to the grass later in the day for their opening session at the Puskas Arena on Friday evening.

Pictures from the first session have emerged online, with both Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka spotted wearing strapping on their legs.

Martinelli had two lots of black strapping around his left calf, while Saka had a singular strap around his left calf as well.

Both players participated in the session and are expected to be fit to face PSG, with Arsenal’s medical staff seemingly taking no chances regardless.

Jurrien Timber’s involvement in the session provided a significant boost, having come through a team training session earlier this week as he steps up his recovery from a groin issue.

The right-back was recently named in Holland’s World Cup squad but did not make the Arsenal squad last weekend when the Gunners won at Crystal Palace.

In the training pictures, Timber can be seen moving with the ball while wearing cycling shorts to protect his groin and provide extra support.

Whether he can be thrown into a game of this magnitude, having not played since March 14, remains a separate question entirely given the scale of the occasion.

Arteta is a huge fan of the Dutchman and will seemingly give him every opportunity to recover, though it seems a tall ask that he will feature having not played since injuring his groin against Everton.

Cristhian Mosquera could therefore be tasked with nullifying Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, with the naturally centre-back option signed partially for his versatility and ability to play as a makeshift full-back.

Arteta is set to provide an injury update on Timber shortly, and if available, Arsenal would have a full-strength squad outside of Ben White, who damaged his MCL in the 1-0 win at West Ham earlier this month.

Noni Madueke is expected to be fit after suffering hamstring tightness during the Crystal Palace match last weekend.
