Manchester City have made their move for Tottenham right-back Pedro Porro, initiating contact over a potential summer transfer, according to reports.
Spanish outlet AS has claimed City have started talks around a deal for the Spain international as they look to strengthen their defensive options.
City are reportedly desperate to add quality to the right side of their back four, with Matheus Nunes having served as the first-choice option in that position this season.
Porro, 26, has spent three-and-a-half years at Tottenham and made 46 appearances across all competitions in 2025/26, scoring twice and providing six assists.
He was one of Roberto De Zerbi’s most consistent performers after the March international break as Spurs secured their Premier League status for another campaign.
Both Porro and Tottenham are aware of City’s interest, with Spurs having set a minimum starting price of around £50million for the full-back.
That asking price is £10million more than the £40million Tottenham paid Sporting CP to sign Porro on a permanent basis in January 2023.
Porro has history with City, having signed for the club in August 2019 for £11million, though he never made a single first-team appearance during his three years there.
He was loaned out to Real Valladolid and then Sporting during his time at City, where he helped Ruben Amorim’s side win the Primeira Liga and the Taca da Liga.
Porro went on to become an important figure at Tottenham, making more than 150 appearances for the club and playing a role in their Europa League triumph last season.
De Zerbi and Spurs are keen to retain the Spaniard, who was deployed as a right winger in Sunday’s 1-0 win against Everton, as they look to build for the future.
When asked about his Tottenham future earlier this week, Porro appeared to play down speculation surrounding a potential departure from north London.
“I have a contract with Tottenham,” he told Onda Cero Extremadura, offering little encouragement to those expecting an imminent exit from the club.
“I haven’t even had time to glance over. We’ve been focused until the last minute. I don’t want to hear anything; I want to switch off and enjoy myself.”
With the Premier League season concluded, Porro’s attention now turns to the World Cup, where Spain will be aiming to win the trophy for the first time since 2010.
