San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama delivered a performance for the ages in Game 6 on Thursday night, refusing to let his team’s season come to an end.
Wembanyama led the Spurs to a dominant 118-91 victory over the defending champion Oklahoma City Thunder to level the series and force a decisive Game 7.
The performance made franchise history, as Wembanyama became the first Spurs player ever to record 25 or more points, at least 10 rebounds, two steals and two blocks in an elimination game.
He finished with 28 points on the night, connecting on 10-of-21 from the field and knocking down 4-of-9 attempts from long range.
Wembanyama also added 10 rebounds, two assists, two steals and three blocks in a complete and commanding showing from the young star.
After scoring 19 points in San Antonio’s second-round series-clinching win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Wembanyama has now reached at least 20 points in every game of the Western Conference Finals.
A victory in Game 7 would give San Antonio a shot at making the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014, adding enormous weight to the upcoming contest.
Wembanyama’s success in the series has contributed to what is shaping up to be the finest season of his three-year career in the league.
A conference title would also add another piece of hardware to his collection, with a series MVP award potentially joining his Defensive Player of the Year trophy from the regular season.
Game 7 will take place at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City, with tip-off scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on Sunday night.
