Roberto De Zerbi has strengthened his backroom team at Tottenham Hotspur by bringing in a fourth trusted colleague ahead of the new campaign.
Agostino Tibaudi has begun work at Hotspur Way, putting players through their pre-season paces as part of Spurs’ sports science and fitness staff.
The 60-year-old has been a familiar face in De Zerbi’s corner since joining his backroom personnel at Sassuolo back in 2018.
Tibaudi has remained an ever-present alongside the Italian head coach since that point, making him one of De Zerbi’s most long-standing colleagues.
His CV also includes spells at AC Milan, Sampdoria, Cagliari, and a season at Chelsea at the beginning of the 2000s.
Tibaudi holds a master’s degree in Science and Technology of Physical Activity, adding significant academic credentials to his extensive practical experience.
When De Zerbi initially joined Spurs at the end of March, he brought only Marcattilio Marcattilii and Marcello Quinto with him to north London as part of his staff.
De Zerbi explained his restrained approach at the time, saying: “It’s totally different this situation because we have no time to work like in Brighton or Marseille or in other places I’ve been and I don’t want to put confusion inside of the players.”
He added: “They have to be with a clear plan of the game and not too much instruction, not too much thinking.”
Enrico Venturelli joined the setup a couple of weeks later following receipt of his work permit, initially taking on a translation role despite holding coaching qualifications.
Tibaudi now becomes the fourth member of De Zerbi’s familiar crew to link up with Tottenham, rounding out his trusted inner circle at the club.
The wider Italian contingent at Spurs continues to grow, with new £100million signing Sandro Tonali joining Destiny Udogie and Guglielmo Vicario at the club.
It is currently understood that Tibaudi is expected to be the only additional returning face brought in from De Zerbi’s past staffing history.
The remainder of the coaching setup includes Bruno Saltor and Andreas Georgson as assistant coaches, with goalkeeping coach Fabian Otte and individual development coach Cameron Campbell also part of the group.
First team transition coaches Stuart Lewis and Dean Brill complete the staff that helped De Zerbi guide Tottenham to Premier League safety last season.
