San Jose Earthquakes defender Daniel Munie has reached a personal milestone, making his first-ever MLS All-Star Game selection during his fourth professional season.
The 26-year-old center back entered the exhibition match in the 48th minute of the second half, replacing Tim Ream on the All-Star roster during the showcase event.
Ream arrived at the All-Star Game fresh off captaining the United States men’s national team throughout the 2026 World Cup, adding significant star power to the occasion.
For Munie, the selection represents a major step forward in a career that has been steadily building since his arrival in the league back in 2023.
The St. Louis native was selected 10th overall in the 2023 MLS SuperDraft out of Indiana University, and has developed into one of the most reliable defenders in the Western Conference.
Munie has emerged as one of the premier center halves in MLS, anchoring the back line for a San Jose side that is genuinely competing at the top of the table this season.
The Earthquakes currently sit tied for first place in the Western Conference with 33 points, level with both Vancouver Whitecaps FC and Los Angeles FC on 10 wins and 3 draws apiece.
San Jose has recorded four losses so far this campaign, compared to Vancouver’s three and Los Angeles FC’s five, making the standings race incredibly tight heading further into the season.
Munie has also contributed on the attacking end this year, posting a career-high four goal contributions across the first 15 games of the campaign, recording two goals and two assists.
According to Sportec data, Munie is the fastest center back in MLS with a recorded top speed of 22.37 miles per hour, a physical attribute that makes him a unique and dynamic defensive presence.
