Arsenal loanees were active across almost every day of last week, with five players featuring across multiple competitions and countries.
The week began on Monday when Charles Sagoe Jr. completed a full 90 minutes for Kalmar FF against Djurgarden, though his side fell to a 1-0 defeat.
Despite the loss, Sagoe Jr. contributed positively in the final third, creating two chances and one big chance during his appearance.
Tuesday brought one of the week’s standout moments, as Ethan Nwaneri came off the bench to play 55 minutes for Borussia Dortmund against Villarreal in the Champions League.
Dortmund won the match 3-2, and Nwaneri nearly marked his debut with a goal, striking the post in the 50th minute in what was an agonisingly close effort.
Wednesday saw Ismeal Kabia put in 77 minutes for St. Mirren away to Rangers before being substituted, with his side suffering a heartbreaking defeat after his exit.
Tommy Setford then made one save on Thursday as Stevenage beat Jack Wilshere’s Luton Town 2-1, continuing a strong run of form for the League One side.
Stevenage had been winless in the league before Setford’s debut, and they have since put together back-to-back victories, though the goalkeeper is still searching for his first clean sheet.
Nwaneri continued his impressive start to life at Dortmund on Saturday, making his first start and playing 65 minutes in a commanding 3-0 win over SC Paderborn.
Sunday rounded out a packed week, with Sagoe Jr. again playing the full 90 minutes only to suffer another 1-0 defeat, this time against Elfsborg.
Arsenal Women loanee Sophie Harwood also featured on Sunday, playing 85 minutes in a 3-1 away loss for Sheffield United against Wolves.
Jessie Gale and Cecily Wellesley-Smith remain absent from their respective loan clubs at Newcastle United and Rosengard due to international duty with the England under-20s.
The pair have helped England reach the last-16 of the World Cup, where they will face Nigeria on Thursday, September 17th.
Looking ahead, the weekend promises another busy schedule, with Stevenage travelling to Leyton Orient, St. Mirren hosting Dundee United, and Dortmund making the trip to Stuttgart.
