The blonde Alice had a series of adventures in a realm called Wonderland. She met queer characters like the Chershire Cat, who had the smile of the crescent in Turkey’s flag and more colors than 10,000 chameleon’s put together, the White Rabbit that ran faster than Usain Bolt and Asafa Powell because it didn’t want to be late and of course, the Mad Hatter who had more bob-hats than T-Pain could ever dream of.
There’s a character in Alice in Wonderland that Arsenal just won a court case over to change the name of her store. She’s not mad, but she’s certainly a hatter. 🙂
Mrs. Alicia Simon from Seville has now been told by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office to change the name of her hat shop ‘Arsenale‘.
She registered the name of her shop before she even opened it as far back as 2007, but Arsenal’s lawyers have been petitioning the Spanish authorities ever since, trying to convince them that she has infringed their trademark.
She told the media Vultures that she doesn’t give two hoots about football, and stated that her shop does not even share the same spelling or pronunciation as Arsenal, and that it is a word which carries “more connotations of culture than sport“.
As dumb as it may seem, Arsenal has finally coaxed the Spanish authorities that there was a “risk of confusion” between the football club and the tiny hat shop.
The origins of the store name Arsenale came from medieval Italy and it was a name given to the shipbuilders’ yards in Pisa and Venice.
Her shop is in Seville’s Arenal de Sevilla district, where Seville’s ancient shipyards were located – hence her choice of the name.
Simon has no intention of backing down and said that she will not change the name of her shop and has already appealed the decision..
“I will fight this to the end”, she insists.
Instead of going to Sevilla to sign a youngster or Jesus Navas, Arsenal went to the seaport city of Seville to fight with a woman that owns a store that has a slight likeness to the store’s name.
I tend to wonder if Arsenal’s website will appear on google if the hit Arsenale is made on the search tab.
Moving over to football news, new signing Per Mertesacker has told the media Vultures that he’ll like to be like Tony Adams when he grows up. 🙂
He also spoke about his admiration for Arsenal’s defensive legend:
“We didn’t get many pictures of him on the television but Adams was a legend here.”. “He is a special one for me. ?
“When I was looking at English football I always looked to Arsenal and he was one of the great defenders when I was ten or 12 years old.”
?
“I like the players [like Adams] very much – I have enjoyed seeing them over the years. I hope I can improve my performances here and get better and better – I want to be useful for the team.”?
Arsenal signed Mertesacker from Werder Bremen on deadline day this summer, and he’s odds on to make his Arsenal debut along side Laurent Koscielny in the heart of Arsenal’s defense and I’m confident that he’ll receive a warm reception at the Emirates tomorrow.
He already has a reputation as a composed and intelligent centre back that’s as tall as Jack’s beanstalk or a Red Indian Totem Pole but the gooners hope that his lack of pace won’t be exploited by some fast forwards in the Premier League.
However, Swansea’s manager Brendan Rodgers anticipates an angry Arsenal tomorrow when his Swansea team visits the Emirates:
“Having worked with big players before, I know when they lose they are determined to come back and win the next game”
“Arsenal is a very dangerous opponent for us because of what happened to them and big players are motivated to get over a defeat like that.”
“Arsenal is a magnificent club. They had a very disappointing result in their previous game, but this was always going to be a tough game for us, like every other game.”
“I am sure they will be motivated to do well after losing to Manchester United, and they have new players in as well who will want to make a good start.”
“The task is still very difficult, but we are looking forward to going there, as our performance levels have been good in the games so far.”
These are the words of a very concerned manager that is about to visit a new look Emirates with his Premier League newbies.
Rodgers biggest nightmare might be the exploits of some Arsenal players in the interlull. RVP banged in four while new boy Park Chu-Young banged four and he’ll probably be on the bench.
Every football writer and blogger alike has guessed a possible starting XI in tomorrow’s game but Wenger’s starting lineup tomorrow might have the same outlook all season long with the exception of Vermaelen, Wilshere (injured), Gervinho and Song (suspended).
Rodgers had a thing or two to say about Arsenal’s manager:
“That will have been a real low moment for him but I think his record speaks for itself”.
“What he has brought to the British game, and the players he has developed, (means) he is one of the top managers in world football.”
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain wants to follow in his father’s footsteps and play for England but he intends to gain more caps than his old man.
He was in outstanding form for the England U-21s in the interlull and must have given Fabio Capello something to think about.
The Chamberd Ox’s dad notched up eight caps for England but he has set his sights higher:
“Things are looking good but there’s plenty I still need to do if I want to play for England one day, like my dad did and hopefully win a few more caps than he did!”??
“I always knew I wanted to be a footballer and, as long as that was my aim, then my dad would do everything to help me achieve it.??
He said a lot of stuff but he has to try hard to win a place in the squad before he can think of winning caps for England. He should also remember that he’s just 18 so he has been best years ahead of him.?
In other Arsenal related news, Wojciech Szczesny won the EA SPORTS Player of the Month of August and Arsenal hopes to beat Chelsea to sign Barcelona’s Gerard Deulofeu.
I’ll have to search for the bloke later on YouTube because any and everything can be found on that site.
It just sad to know that enigma106 is not on YouTube yet.
Maybe you’ll see my music videos in the near future like,
Crank dat Enigma or
Enigma’s own version of Windeck 🙂
Maybe the video will be able to amass 70,044,502 hits in one month, like Arsenal’s official site that had a record breaking 70,044,502 views in the month of August alone.
