With only two games left in the preseason before the Premier League campaign Commences against Wolves, Mikel Arteta will have another chance to give some minutes to the lads that got back late from their Euro 2024 sojourns with the likes of William Saliba, Bukayo Saka and Declan Rice coming to mind. Yes, David Raya stayed with the Spanish squad till the very final day of the European Championships, but he has resumed earlier and will be looking forward to getting consistent minutes this season.
Arsenal host Bayer Leverkusen today in the Emirates Cup which will serve as a homecoming of some sort for Granit Xhaka. He served Arsenal for seven solid years and served as the captain for a couple as well. It will be a good time at the Emirates sunshine and Arteta will be hoping to gain much vital fitness for this players.
To team news, I’d expect Karl Hein to continue in goal, but reports have surfaced that he’s about to join Valladolid on loan. This will also be a good opportunity to see Riccardo Calafiori in action for the first time which will be a lovely sight. There are no fresh injury concerns, so let’s see how it pans out.
