Dutch football pundit Rob Jansen has tipped Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp to return to the north London club as their new head of academy in the near future.

Bergkamp is a club legend at Arsenal after he spent eleven years with the north London side, making more than 420 appearances and winning  three Premier League titles amongst various other honours with the Gunners.

He had a brief coaching stint at Ajax where he spent six years as the assistant but the former Arsenal star has been out of the game since 2017,

The Dutchman has been linked with a return to football over the years, especially at Ajax, but he has continued to remain away from the spotlight.

He has worked as a pundit from time to time for broadcasters in the Netherlands and England and has continued to watch the game despite not being part of the world for a while.

The Arsenal legend has tipped to return to the club

Jansen insisted that Bergkamp remains a keen observer of the game and closely follows the career of his son-in-law, former Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek, who joined Girona in the summer.

The Dutch pundit has backed the former attacking midfielder to return to the game but he expects him to rejoin his beloved Arsenal in a new role.

He can envisage the ‘Flying Dutchman’ returning to Arsenal to run the club’s supply chain of players by becoming their Head of Academy in the near future.

“He follows football very much”, Jansen said on KieftJansenEgmondGijp podcast (via Voetbal Primeur).

“He often visits his son-in-law [Donny van de Beek] at Girona.

“He will definitely return to football, I think at Arsenal as Head Of Academy.”

Bergkamp still retains a cult status amongst the Arsenal fans and the supporters would very much welcome the club legend back if he returns to the game.
