PSV Eindhoven coach Peter Bosz has claimed that the Arsenal side his team lost to last season are better than the Juventus team that defeated the Dutch giants on Tuesday night.
Juventus hammered the Dutch side 3-1 in Turin in their Champions League opener and it was a disappointing performance from PSV.
Bosz was let down by some naive defensive errors and Juventus were by far the better team on the night and forced PSV to return empty-handed from Italy.
The PSV coach compared the loss in Turin to a similar defeat against Arsenal last season when the Gunners hammered his side 4-0 in the Champions League.
He feels the performances were similar but insisted that there is a difference in the quality levels of their opposition.
Arsenal are better than Juventus, claims the PSV coach
PSV came to north London in September last season and were given a footballing lesson by Mikel Arteta’s side in the Champions League groups stage encounter.
Goals from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus in the first half killed the game even before the break and Martin Odegaard added a fourth in the 70th minute to add further shine to the scoreline.
Bosz admitted that last night felt similar but believes Arsenal are a better team than the Juventus side that hammered them in Turin.
He also pointed out that he had most of his best players in that game against the Gunners while in Turin some of his key stars were missing.
“It’s almost a deja vu with last year, where we lost 4-0”, Bosz said on Ziggo Sport (via Voetbal Primeur).
“It’s ‘only’ 3-1 now, but I think Arsenal is better than Juve.
“Last year we had the team together, we were fit and we could field everyone.
“Now you’re waiting for guys who are coming back. That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have done better.”
Arsenal will open their Champions League campaign on Thursday night when they will take on Atalanta in Bergamo.
