Arsenal are intending to offer fresh terms to 29-year-old winger Leandro Trossard who has emerged as a key player for Mikel Arteta since his arrival.

Trossard grabbed headlines over the weekend when he was sent off at the brink of half-time in Arsenal’s pulsating 2-2 draw against Manchester City at the Etihad.

The Belgian kicked the ball away after fouling Bernardo Silva and was shown the second yellow card to signal an early shower for the winger in the big top-of-the-table Premier League clash.

The red card has sparked debate with many feeling Michael Oliver was trying to hog the headlines but the Belgian has done more than being a nuisance for Arsenal on the pitch.

Trossard has 19 goals and 12 assists beside his name in 74 appearances for Arsenal and is a key member of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

Arsenal are plotting a new deal for Leandro Trossard

The winger was wanted in Saudi Arabia but Arsenal rejected offers from the Middle Eastern country from the winger as Arteta was determined to hold on to him.

Trossard also didn’t push for a move and is happy being part of an Arsenal squad who are keen to end Manchester City’s dominance in the Premier League this season after finishing second in the previous two campaigns.

He has two years left on his current contract but Arsenal are already planning to tie him down to a longer contract.

According to Belgian daily Het Nieuwsblad, the Gunners are yet to open talks over a new deal with the player and his representatives.

But Arsenal very much intend to offer the 29-year-old winger a new deal to continue at the Emirates for a longer period.

Trossard is likely to demand a considerable pay rise given his importance in the team but Arsenal are keen to make sure that he is tied down to a new contract.
