David Raya has been on outstanding form this season and has even been touted as one of the best keepers in the world by pundits. In the grueling draw against Manchester City last weekend, Raya was in imperious form, making 10 saves on the day, despite conceding two goals.
However, it was reported that Raya was limping after the game and was strapped with bandages, which doesn’t bode well with everyone connected at Arsenal. In the 5-1 decimation of Bolton, Mikel Arteta had to resort to using a 16-year-old debutant goalie, Jack Porter, with Neto Murara cup-tied, Tommy Setford injured and David Raya nursing a niggle.
Mikel Arteta’s comments on David Raya after the Bolton game
In his post-match press conference, Arteta didn’t have any encouraging words on the Raya injury situation,
“We don’t know yet, he’s got a muscular injury”
If Raya is not fit enough to play Leicester City, we can see Neto make his long-awaited debut at the expense of the Spanish goalie. However, we will keep our fingers crossed, search for his presence in the training pictures and most importantly, listen to Arteta’s pre-Bournemouth press conference.
