Former Premier League star Alan Shearer can’t see anything but a convincing win for Arsenal when they host Leicester City at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Arsenal were seconds away from an improbably win at Manchester City last weekend and beat Bolton convincingly in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday night.
The Gunners have coped with criticism for employing ‘dark arts’ at the Etihad and their ultra-defensive mentality in the second half against Manchester City has also been slammed by former Manchester United captain and Premier League winner Roy Keane.
However, Arsenal are in good stead and are very much part of the Premier League title conversation again this season despite all the criticism.
Shearer is expecting to see a more flamboyant Arsenal on Saturday
The north London club are coming into the game against Leicester City as heavy favourites to get all three points at the Emirates.
Leicester are sitting 15th in the Premier League table after losing three and drawing two of their opening five Premier League games this season.
Steve Cooper’s newly promoted side are one of the favourites to go down this season and Arsenal are expected to comfortably take care of them at home.
Shearer conceded that it would be a surprise if Leicester even get a point from this game and while he is not expecting any crazy scorelines, he doesn’t see anything beyond a comfortable home win for Arsenal on Saturday.
“I can’t see Arsenal being as defensive in this one as they were for the second half at the Etihad!”, Shearer wrote in his predictions for the Metro.
“It’d be a huge surprise if Leicester took a point back. I can’t see it happening with the form that Arsenal are in and the confidence and belief they’ll take from last week’s result.
“I won’t go with anything crazy, I just see a convincing home win.”
Arsenal will hope to shut their critics up with an attacking performance against Leicester at the Emirates on Saturday.
