Kai Havertz shows love to Arsenal fans as he chases club record

Kai Havertz has already cemented himself in the staring XI at Arsenal

Kai Havertz scored the opener in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, as the Gunners continued their unbeaten start to the season.

The French side came into the tie having already won three points in their opener against Girona. Arsenal on the other hand, had one point after a 0-0 draw with Atalanta in Italy.

Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka were on the scoresheet during the game, with Arsenal completing another shutout in Europe.

Before the tie, Havertz spoke about winning the Champions League with Arsenal, and how it would mean much more to him than the one he won at Chelsea:

“It was a good moment for me in my career [the 2021 Champions League final] and something that I’m always going to think about. It’s a nice feeling but it would be even nicer if I can do it with Arsenal and it would mean a lot more.”

Kai Havertz chases Arsenal record after Tuesday night’s win

After his goal against PSG, the German forward has now scored in six consecutive games at the Emirates Stadium. He is currently one goal away from matching Robin Van Persie, who scored seven consecutive home games.

Havertz was named Man of the Match during the Champions League tie, and said how much he appreciated the home fans:

“It just feels like home to me. It feels nice to play here, the atmosphere is great, the support is great. Sometimes when the game goes against you, all the supporters are important to us. We feel that a lot on the pitch, it helps me a lot and gives me a lot of confidence.

“I can still improve. Every game, I get two or three good chances, and I want to get better and score more goals. It’s a good start to the season and I can improve in a lot of aspects.”

Arsenal forward believes the team will score more goals this season

The Gunners scored four goals against Leicester City on the weekend and netted five against Bolton last week. Havertz believes the attack is clicking, and will not be surprised if the team keep scoring at this rate:

“When you see the players we have on the ball, when they’re outside, I’m tall, I like to take the space and help the team with those runs. Today it worked quite well, we train a lot on it.

“When you have players around you like these, it’s just a joy to play football. It’s the start of the season, and we can still be better. I think we’re all looking forward to the next few weeks.

“I think we all enjoyed it today, especially in the first half. I think we were the better team, showed what we are capable of, and it was great to be out there. The atmosphere was nice and it was just a nice game to play in.”
