Bukayo Saka has been unbelievable for Arsenal this season, he became the first Gunner to provide four assists in each of the opening four games of the Premier League season.
Against Leicester City last weekend, Saka became the first Premier League player in the last five seasons to create 8 chances and complete 8 dribbles in the same game.
The England international has been key to success for club and country since he made his debut.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry offered his honest insight on what he thought when he first saw Saka in the academy.
Thierry Henry makes ‘honest’ admission about Bukayo Saka
Henry narrated his first thoughts when he saw Saka at Arsenal. The former French Under 23 coach says he did not believe the Arsenal forward would become as good as he is now, and praised his hard work.
“I saw him at the academy and I didn’t think he would be that good, I’ll be honest with you,” Henry said. “I saw him at the academy and I didn’t think he would be that good, I’ll be honest with you. But when you work, you have that work ethic, you have a good family behind you, cause I know the family, he is clever, he works well. I really saw a player reaching his level, because right now he is at a level, hard to arrive. He has been there for almost three years if I am being honest.”
Saka scored in Arsenal’s 2-0 win over PSG midweek, and confidently said that he thinks Arsenal can win the Premier League this year.
That attitude and mentality was what impressed Thierry Henry, with the Frenchman saying the dedication to improving has made Saka one of the best in the league:
“At the European Championship (with England) they are asking him to play wing-back, he plays wing-back. He goes and defends for his right-back, he goes wide, he goes left, he goes behind, he does everything without complaining. He plays every single game. He played in the Carabao Cup, he played after the World Cup straight away in the first round of the FA Cup. It will be a dream for a full-back to have a guy like that in front of you, defending like that, going on the counter, he makes the job easier for everybody.”
Arsenal host Southampton as they hope to go top of the table. The Gunners are unbeaten in all competitions this season despite playing with 10-men in two of these games.
