Arsenal defender, Riccardo Calafiori, has been awarded with the Goal of the Month award for September 2024 for his sensational curling effort that beat Ederson in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City.
Calafiori repaid Mikel Arteta’s faith for granting him his first start in such a momentous fixture and his goal showed great levels of confidence as he executed the attempt to perfection after receiving the carefully-threaded pass from Gabriel Martinelli.
That goal was the equalizer for Erling Haaland’s initial effort and when Gabriel nodded the ball home at point blank range, Arsenal was on the ascendancy but a red card to Leandro Trossard put the team in the lurch and they had to defend valiantly for 45 minutes, which included fielding an already injured Ben White to support the defense.
What Arsenal goals made the Top 3 for September 2024?
Calafiori’s strike against Manchester City received 40 percent of the votes, with Caitlin Foord’s impressive volley against Rangers coming second with 22 percent, while Beth Mead’s strike against BK Hacken finished in third place with 19 percent.
It’s also worth noting that Calafiori’s strike is a contender for the Premier League Goal of the Month, but voting has closed. There are some sensational strikes in the list though such as Jhon Duran’s thunderbolt against Everton, Cole Palmer’s insane free kick against Brighton and James Justin’s technical finish against Arsenal.
