Ian Wright insists Arsenal star should not be in ‘World Class’ conversations

Bukayo Saka has had an amazing start to the season, becoming the first Arsenal player to provide an assist in each of the first four league games of the season.

The forward already has three goals this season, and leads the Premier League in assists. Last week’s game against Leicester and the win over Southampton show how insane Saka’s performances have been this season.

The 23-year old created 8 chances and completed 8 dribbles against the Foxes. Mikel Arteta says Saka has the ability to change games for Arsenal, something most of the squad cannot do consistently:

“That’s the maturity and the steps that players have to do. He’s been long enough in the team now, he’s earned the right to have that role, he believes in that. He has the capacity to change games, to decide games, like many other players. If you want to be at the top, sometimes players have to create those moments and he’s certainly done that today.”

Ian Wright speaks on Bukayo Saka

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has been a vocal supporter of this team and the players under Mikel Arteta. But when asked about Bukayo Saka being involved in ‘World Class’ conversations, the 60-year old thinks it’s unfair to involve the England international.

“That’s the problem, the way you said it there makes sense (you become world-class by winning trophies such as World Cups),” said Wright.

“When you watch the World Cup, that’s what you see. You see World-Class players. Zidane and Kaka, all those players. They won the World Cup.

“The way people are throwing this about like he’s not World-Class, he isn’t World-Class. It’s just a clickbait kind of conversation. It’s so annoying it is.”

Bukayo Saka has been one of the best players in the world for club and country, he should definitely be in these conversations even if he has not won a trophy.

Arsenal forward focused on winning this season

Despite all the talk, and noise surrounding Arsenal this season, Bukayo Saka is focused on trying to win trophies for the Gunners.

“There is a lot of hunger in my belly. I have a been a runner-up a lot and this season I want to win,” he said.

“I see a lot of people speak about Arsenal and the way we play. It’s about results. Different games have different contexts. We have to do whatever it takes and win in any context whether it’s set-pieces or playing our beautiful football. We just want to win.”
