Arsenal enter talks to sign £100m striker

Arsenal have launched a £100 million mission

Arsenal haven’t been left disappointed with goals this season. Unlike last campaign, Kai Havertz has stepped up to take the role at the Emirates.

One of the Gunners’ main disappointments of the 2023/24 season was the lack of a goalscoring threat at the club. Both Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah failed to meet expectations as Arsenal fell short in the title race.

This campaign has been different though as Kai Havertz has taken the role up front. With six goals and an assist to his name, the German is doing well in a crunch but the Londoners will need a more clinical finisher if they wish to win the Premier League.

Arsenal offer £100 million for Alexander Isak – Reports

According to Football365, an unnamed Spanish outlet has broken the news that the Gunners have offered £100 million for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak.

Arsenal are set on breaking their record for Declan Rice for whom they paid £100 million plus add-ons. Signing Isak at this price will mean another record for the Londoners and an outgoing record for the Magpies.

There were talks of the striker moving to the Emirates last season but a deal never materialised. The Swedsman was also in the process of signing new terms with Newscastle but the talks have stalled according to reports.

This provides the perfect opportunity for Arsenal to pounce at the right time. Isak scored 25 goals and assisted twice last season.

However, reports from the Daily Mail suggest a different picture at St. James’ Park. Earlier, the newspaper reported that Newcastle United are not keen on selling the Isak in the upcoming windows.

Newcastle are not in contract talks with Alexander Isak and there are no plans to enter negotiations with more than three years to run on his current deal – but it raises the chance of a summer move and will put Arsenal on red alert.

While there were preliminary discussions towards the end of last season – when Isak scored 21 Premier League goals – there was a feeling then that the striker and his camp were reluctant to commit.

Football dark arts at play?

Real Sociedad have a 10% sell-on clause for Isak

If Daily Mail’s report is true then there might be dark arts at play in this rumour. Football365 mentioned an unnamed Spanish source which might very well be paid to do so in order to raise the player’s market value.

Real Sociedad has put up a 10% sell-on clause in Isak’s contract which means La Real will receive a 10% cut from the future sale of the Swedsman.

It is quite common for clubs or players to pay the media for fake rumours. Having your name linked with the biggest clubs can put you at the forefront of contract negotiations.

If it has something to do with Sociedad then the remuneration is obvious. However, it is too risky to reach a concrete conclusion without knowing the first source of the news.
