Arsenal came close to securing qualification to the knockout stages of the Champions League knockout rounds after a straightforward victory over Dinamo Zagreb. The starting XI was close to what we predicted, but the score line actually flatters the Croatian side, as Arsenal missed a plethora of chances.
Without further ado, here are the player ratings.
Defense
David Raya – Was relatively untested all night long. (6)
Jurrien Timber – Did okay on the right but had a disastrous moment that Jakub Kiwior bailed him out from. (7)
Jakub Kiwior – Had an untroubled night but almost created a nervy moment for himself that would have gone awry. (7)
Gabriel – Put up a great performance at the back and should have scored a goal. (7)
Oleksandr Zinchenko – Had a lot of the ball and should have done better with his forward runs. (7)
Midfield
Jorginho – Made a lot of progressive passes in the game. (7)
Declan Rice – Scored a great goal and should have gotten his first Champions League brace. (8)
Martin Odegaard – Finally scored a goal from open play and was very relieved. (7)
Forwards
Gabriel Martinelli – Setup a great cross that was converted by Kai Havertz. (7)
Raheem Sterling – Put up another weak performance and has been very underwhelming. The fact that he has more yellow cards than goals for Arsenal speaks volumes. (5)
Kai Havertz – Scored a goal and created an assist in another great performance. (8)
Substitutes
Ethan Nwaneri – Produced a great cross that Rice should have converted. (7)
Thomas Partey – Gave Timber a breather and slotted in at right back. (6)
Kieran Tierney – Slotted in for Zinchenko with minimal fuss. (7)
Leandro Trossard – Created a neat assist for Odegaard to clinch the game. (7)
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji – Didn’t play long enough to get a rating. (N/A)
