Micky Van De Ven’s Agent Opens Door To Real Madrid As Tottenham Brace For Summer Interest

Micky van de Ven’s agent José Fortes has previously invited Real Madrid to make a move for the Tottenham Hotspur centre-back.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Los Blancos are actively interested in signing Van de Ven and are ready to submit a formal offer this summer.

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is prioritising a new centre-half signing, and the Dutch international has reportedly been identified as a key target.

Van de Ven, who has three years remaining on his contract at Spurs, could cost interested clubs at least £75million based on current valuations.

Fortes, who also represents Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, told Spanish outlet Marca last year that his client has the profile suited to the biggest clubs.

The agent said: “Micky also has the quality to play for a big club like Real Madrid someday. Besides, Madrid needs a defender with his characteristics.”

Fortes further reinforced his belief in Van de Ven’s ability, adding: “For my players, effort is non-negotiable. I wasn’t a great footballer, but that’s why I know how to help them. Micky has this quality; he’s a born worker. After his injury, he’ll return to a high level, on par with any top club.”

Despite the mounting speculation, Van de Ven himself has signalled an intention to remain in north London and help Tottenham rebuild after two difficult seasons.

Speaking after the final day 1-0 win over Everton, which helped Spurs narrowly avoid relegation, the 25-year-old said: “Really confident. I think we have the right people now here. The right manager. So yeah, I’m confident we can do more next year because obviously, as you said, two years in a row we end up 17th, it was unacceptable, especially for a club like Spurs.”

He continued: “Things are going to need to change, and we’re going to see that’s going to happen. But we’re going to do everything about it, and I’m confident we’re going to do way better than the last two seasons.”

Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi has previously described Van de Ven as the best centre-back in his position in the Premier League, underlining how highly the manager rates the defender.

Van de Ven also praised De Zerbi’s impact following his mid-season appointment, crediting the Italian with restoring confidence throughout the squad during a deeply turbulent period.

He said: “Obviously, he came in in a difficult moment as well because we hadn’t won for four months, I think, or three months. So obviously, he came in a difficult situation as well. But the trust he gave us and so much confidence he gave us. I think you can see now on the pitch as well, the players start to play and start to feel like the confidence.”

Whether Tottenham would sanction a sale remains unclear, but with Real Madrid circling and Van de Ven’s agent making no secret of his ambitions, Spurs face a testing summer ahead.
