Arsenal are reportedly closing in on another academy signing, with Telegraph journalist Sam Dean indicating there is more movement on the way at the Emirates Stadium.
Dean posted on X that the Premier League champions are on the verge of completing a deal for 16-year-old Crystal Palace forward Mylo Bernard.
“More movement in the academy at Arsenal: #AFC are closing in on the signing of 16-year-old forward Mylo Bernard from Crystal Palace,” Dean wrote.
The news follows earlier reports from the Daily Mail that had already linked Arsenal with Bernard as a potential target for their academy setup.
That same Daily Mail report also highlighted Arsenal as favourites to sign Axel Donczew from Cardiff City, another highly-regarded teenage prospect attracting attention.
The Donczew deal was subsequently covered by Fabrizio Romano, who reported the transfer was essentially a done deal for the north London club.
Arsenal now appear to be on the verge of completing two significant academy acquisitions, moving quickly to secure the futures of two promising young talents.
The speed of this business is notable given Arsenal previously missed out on Jeremy Monga, who chose Manchester City over the Gunners after leaving Leicester City.
Developing young players at academy level has become increasingly important for top clubs trying to manage spending and remain compliant with Financial Fair Play regulations.
Even if Bernard and Donczew do not eventually break into Mikel Arteta’s first-team plans, loan moves and potential future sales remain financially attractive outcomes for the club.
