Newcastle United are reportedly targeting Feyenoord attacker Anis Hadj Moussa as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
The Dutch club are understood to be open to selling Moussa if the right offer arrives, giving Newcastle a genuine opportunity to secure the deal.
Newly appointed Newcastle manager Matthias Jaissle is reportedly a major driving force behind the club’s interest in the 21-goal-involvement winger.
Jaissle previously attempted to bring Moussa to Saudi Arabia, indicating the admiration between coach and player stretches back some time.
Journalist Dennis Kranenburg stated: “Newcastle United are interested in Hadj Moussa. Their new coach had previously tried to bring him to Saudi Arabia, so he’s a big fan of Hadj Moussa.”
Kranenburg went further, suggesting a deal could realistically happen, saying: “If the right offer comes along, I can’t imagine him staying.”
Moussa has attracted widespread interest across European football, with Arsenal and Chelsea both previously linked with the Algerian attacker.
The 21-goal-involvement figure is well earned, as Moussa contributed 14 goals and seven assists during last season’s campaign with Feyenoord.
Newcastle sanctioned the departure of Anthony Gordon earlier this summer, leaving a clear gap on the flanks that urgently needs filling before the new campaign.
The Magpies are in a period of transition, with Eddie Howe also having left the club, meaning Jaissle is tasked with reshaping the squad significantly.
