Burnley forward Lyle Foster has completed a loan move to MLS outfit Houston Dynamo, with the deal running until June 2027.
The 26-year-old South Africa international had been at Burnley since 2023, when he arrived from Belgian club KVC Westerlo.
Foster made 99 appearances in all competitions for the Clarets, scoring 12 goals across his time at Turf Moor.
During his four seasons with Burnley, he racked up 89 league appearances and 11 goals across the Premier League and EFL Championship.
Foster played a meaningful role in Burnley’s promotion story, helping them win the 2022/23 Championship title and then securing automatic promotion again with a second-place finish in the 2024/25 campaign.
In the 2025/26 Premier League season, the forward scored three goals and contributed two assists in 26 appearances, though he could not prevent the Clarets from being relegated.
His strikes that season came against Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, along with a memorable 95th-minute winner away at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Foster had not featured at all this season, having returned late to pre-season after representing South Africa at the summer’s World Cup.
Houston Dynamo hold an option to sign Foster on a permanent basis at the end of the loan period, with reports suggesting the fee for a permanent deal would be in the region of $7 million.
Dynamo President of Soccer Pat Onstad expressed his excitement at securing the forward, pointing to his physical profile and Premier League experience as key attributes.
“Lyle presents another powerful, mobile forward to our attacking group,” said Onstad. “He threatens the space behind the back line, links play well and brings the work rate and intensity that we demand without the ball.”
Onstad added: “Lyle’s experience in the Premier League and on the international stage will strengthen our group, and we are excited to welcome him to Houston as we prepare for a strong finish to the season.”
Foster began his professional career with Orlando Pirates before moving to French club AS Monaco in January 2019, later gaining experience at Cercle Brugge and Vitória S.C. before his switch to Westerlo.
