Richarlison’s future at Tottenham remains shrouded in uncertainty after manager Roberto De Zerbi gave a notably cryptic response to questions about the Brazilian striker.
The forward scored for Spurs in a pre-season friendly victory over Chelsea, briefly thrusting himself back into the spotlight at a club where his spell has been largely inconsistent.
De Zerbi appeared genuinely torn on the subject, suggesting that keeping Richarlison may be the safer option given the unpredictability of signing a new striker to replace him.

“It’s not so easy to find another striker like Richarlison, because Richarlison scores goals and he knows the way,” De Zerbi added, underlining his respect for the player’s finishing instincts.
De Zerbi pointed to Richarlison’s tally of 12 goals last season as evidence of genuine quality, insisting the numbers were not the product of fortune but rather clinical awareness.
When pressed further on the situation, De Zerbi admitted: “I don’t know, I didn’t understand well, because sometimes he said to stay, sometimes he leaves.”
The manager was keen to emphasise the warmth felt toward Richarlison throughout the club, adding: “All of us love him, the team-mates, the club, the staff, because he works hard every day, seriously every day.”
Those comments paint a picture of a player who is valued on a personal level, even if the footballing decision around his future has yet to be made definitively.
