Houston Dynamo extended their unbeaten run to six matches with a commanding 2-0 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday in Foxborough.
Guilherme Santos opened the scoring in the first minute of stoppage time, sending Houston into the interval with a hard-earned lead heading into the second half.
The goal was another milestone moment for Santos, who has now scored 11 goals in just 18 appearances during his debut season in Major League Soccer.
Rookie defender Agustin Resch then put the result beyond any doubt in the 63rd minute, heading home from a corner kick to give Houston a two-goal cushion.
The assist for Resch’s goal came from Jack McGlynn, who delivered the corner kick and registered his sixth assist of the season in the process.
It was a particularly memorable moment for Resch, a rookie making his mark at the back, as he netted his first professional goal in Major League Soccer.
Goalkeeper Jonathan Bond was equally impressive behind the defensive line, stopping two shots on goal to record his sixth shutout of the campaign.
The clean sheet was Bond’s third in consecutive matches, underlining a remarkable run of form between the posts for the Houston Dynamo.
Since joining the Dynamo last season, Bond has now accumulated 13 clean sheets across 44 starts, cementing himself as one of the more reliable goalkeepers in the league.
Prior to his move to Houston, Bond posted four shutouts during 89 starts with the Los Angeles Galaxy, making his current form all the more striking by comparison.
The result lifts Houston to a record of 10 wins, 6 losses, and 2 draws, putting them in a strong position as the season continues to develop.
With Santos’s attacking output, Resch’s growing confidence, and Bond’s consistency in goal, the Dynamo look well-equipped to continue building on this unbeaten streak.
