Watching Liverpool crumble yet again to a team that has never won on Merseyside showcased how inconsistent Kenny Dalglish’s team has become. Days ago, they dispatched Norwich through the heroics of Luis Suarez and the goal he used to seal his first hat-trick for Liverpool was a jaw dropper.
With two games left to play, the Reds are currently in eighth place and could even sink further down the table. Despite all these shortcomings, Liverpool has a cup final this weekend against Chelsea and they stand a chance of securing the honors the Arsenal Class of ’93 had.
With all the wads of cash spent by Dalglish, Liverpool has been an aberration in the Premier League this season. A team that almost won the Premier League in 2009 has fallen from grace so badly, that it has become a norm not to see them challenging for honors with the elite.
Food for thought: Would you rather win two Cup finals and end up in mid-table or go without a trophy but end up in third place?
On the international scene, the FA has decided to announce a manager before the Euwos. Wily Ol’ Woy Hodgson has been selected as the man to take England forward ahead of Twitchy Ol’ ‘Arry. This bit of news will certainly bring an extra twitch to his face but reports have emerged revealing that it was his wife, Sandra Red Napkin, that stopped him from getting the job.
Woy has weceived backing from Jack Wilshere and Steven Gerrard has also welcomed the Wily manager, labelling him as a good man and a good manager.
Now that the fate of the senior team has been decided, eyes are still firmly fixed on Stuart Pearce’s Olympic selection for Team Great Britain. While the likes of Kieran Gibbs and Aaron Ramsey will be odds on to represent the team, Wilshere was the subject of some speculation and power tussle but he has but the mad manager firmly in his place.
The Japan Blue Samurais will also participate in the Olympic games and Arseblog News has reported that their representatives are in talks with Arsenal over the availability of Ryo Miyaichi for the forthcoming Summer competition.
Arsene Wenger would want Miyaichi to get all the football he can get before joining his side next season and I’ll be somewhat surprised if he doesn’t give the nod. Miyaichi has been finding his feet in England and he has been on Owen Coyle’s good books in his short loan spell at Bolton.
His only goal to date was scored in the FA Cup against Millwall and trust me, it’s worth a second look.

Moving over to transfer news, football’s worst kept secret, Lukas Podolski, was exposed a few days ago and a few more “quality” signings are expected in due time. Wenger has stated that he’s looking forward to watching his new kid on the block in the forthcoming Euros while Wilshere had sweet words for him on Twitter.

The article on the club’s website shows how Podolski ticks all the boxes for Arsenal, and a few journos listed his qualities emphasizing on each of them with so much detail that can be as glaring as checking the ape-like qualities Gareth Bale possesses.
It’s worth a read.
While the likes of Stephane Sessegnon and Lucas Bilgia have openly dismissed rumors linking them to Arsenal, Jan Vertonghen is keen on joining the Gunners. The Metro reports that Arsenal are in open transfer talks with Ajax of a move for the defender.
Vertonghen has already told Ajax officials he wants to quit the club this summer, and with just 12 months left on his current deal, manager Frank De Boer is believed to have sanctioned his sale now in order to claim maximum profit.
“Yann has acknowledged that it was an inappropriate response but provoked by the betrayal of the trust he gave to this young man.“As it stands, no decision has been taken yet by the Rennes prosecutor on this case but the file will be forwarded to him within eight to 10 days.”
