Arsenal Set to Offer Bumper Contracts to Arteta and Edu

Edu exclusive interview: Arsenal transfer policy, working in harmony with Mikel Arteta and why only trophies will do | Football News | Sky Sports

On December 2019, Arsenal made the huge decision to appoint Manchester City’s assistant manager, Mikel Arteta, as the new head coach of Arsenal, after dismissing Unai Emery following the club’s dismal performances. It was a monumental time in the club and five years after, it feels like it has been a very worthwhile move.

The FA Cup and Community Shield triumphs were welcome, but Arteta went the extra mile in changing the mentality of the club, getting rid of those players that didn’t align to his ‘exciting project’ and with the help of Edu Gaspar, bringing in fresh blood that has completely taking the club out of the trenches of Europa League football to title challenging with the juggernaut known as Manchester City.

Two seasons ago, Arsenal led the Premier League for a considerable chunk of the campaign, but capitulated at the business end after successive draws against Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton, before losing the important crunch clash against Manchester City. Last season saw the Gunners push even harder, following the acquisition of the British record transfer signing, Declan Rice, and it went all the way to the final day before losing it.

The mindset hasn’t changed and the team has commenced this new campaign with the same verve and panache, winning the first two games before the drama around the Brighton draw yesterday. To continue to sweeten the mood around the Emirates, it has been reported that Arsenal is set to offer a new deal to Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar, which will be greeted positively by everyone connected with the club.

It is believed that the contract extension will see Arteta stay at the club till the 2027/28. The offer will also be a substantial increase for what they are earning at the club.
