Arsenal are prepared to provide stiff competition to clubs such as Manchester City and Liverpool in the pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz.

Wirtz is considered one of the best young talents in European football and Leverkusen did well to hold on to him in the last summer transfer window.

The German champions are expected to come under pressure next summer to sell him given he is attracting interest from some of the biggest clubs in European football.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have their eyes on Wirtz and the attacking midfielder is also attracting interest from Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, according to German magazine SportBild, Arsenal’s interest in Wirtz has slipped under the radar of many observers.

Arsenal ready to push for the signature of the Bayer Leverkusen star

Wirtz is still not guaranteed to leave Leverkusen at the end of the season and the club could still convince him to stay for one more year.

However, there is a real chance that the player could leave next summer with several big teams chasing his signature at the moment.

Arsenal are very much involved in the race to sign him and the club do have the appeal to attract the player to the Emirates.

The Gunners have been on an upward trajectory under Mikel Arteta and have finished second behind Manchester City in the Premier League in the previous two seasons.

Arsenal also have the financial might to put together a package to convince Wirtz to move to the Emirates.

However, they have not won anything major for a long time and their last trophy was the FA Cup in 2020.

But the north London club are ready to go toe-to-toe with other big clubs in pursuit of the attacking midfielder if he decides to leave Leverkusen next summer.

Arsenal have also signalled that they are not planning to lose their best players to top European clubs in the future.
