Arsenal midfield target Florian Wirtz has decided to try and leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the 2024/25 season as part of his career plan.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is one of the most wanted young talents in world football and is on the lips of some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
Bayer Leverkusen managed to convince him to stay last summer but they are unlikely to succeed to keep him longer beyond the end of the ongoing season.
Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool are among the teams who are pushing to sign the attacking midfielder in the summer of 2025.
Arsenal are also very much part of the conversation and believe that they have the sporting project to attract a player of Wirtz’s quality.
There were suggestions that the midfielder could be convinced to stay another year at Leverkusen but it seems a decision has been made on his future.
Plans in motion for the Arsenal target to change clubs next summer
According to German magazine SportBild, Wirtz has made the call to move on from Leverkusen at the end of the season.
The midfielder has made the decision and background work on his potential departure could soon start as clubs look to position themselves in the race.
Leverkusen are looking to get a fee of around €150m from his sale but clubs expect the midfielder to be sold for somewhere around €100m when he leaves next summer.
Arsenal have their eyes on the player and will be looking to create a strong sales pitch to convince the player to move to the Emirates.
The Gunners will look to be aggressive in the market while making sure they hold on to their best players such as William Saliba.
However, they would want to start winning major trophies again if they are to beat clubs such as Real Madrid, Manchester City and Liverpool to the signatures of players such as Wirtz.
