Arsenal 2-0 PSG: Player Ratings

>

Arsenal left it really late to get all three points against Leicester City and switched gears to the Champions League with French juggernauts, PSG, coming to the Emirates Stadium.

Kai Havertz opened the scoring with looping header after connecting to Leandro Trossard’s pass before Gigi Donnarumma. Bukayo Saka scored what proved to be the match clincher with a set piece that evaded everyone and crept into the net.

Without further ado, here are the Gooner Daily player ratings.

Defense

David Raya – Had to get his footing in check to make a brilliant save from a Kang-In Lee swerving effort but was relatively untested all game long. (7)

Jurrien Timber – Pocketed PSG’s dangerman, Bradley Barcola, for the entirety of the first half but didn’t show up after the break. I hope he’s okay. (7)

Gabriel – Put up a decent performance at the back. (7)

William Saliba – Was in super form, making interceptions, clearances and the whole nine yards. (8)

Riccardo Calafiori – Showed his fiery side with the altercation with Fabian Ruiz and showed his versality, switching to right back after the break. (7)

Midfield

Thomas Partey – Looked tidy in midfield making a lot of neat passes. (7)

Declan Rice – Was ubiquitous in midfield, starting as the left 8 and switching to 6 on Mikel Merino’s arrival. (7)

Leandro Trossard – Continued his good form in his extended run with the side, creating a sumptuous assist for Kai Havertz. (7)

Forwards

Gabriel Martinelli – Was a live-wire with the ball at his feet. Getting back to the form we have become accustomed to. (7)

Bukayo Saka – Another great performance from the captain. Good to see him get on the score sheet as well. (8)

Kai Havertz – Showed his predatory instincts with a well-taken goal. (7)

Substitutes

Jakub Kiwior – Had a sturdy performance on the left back slot. (7)

Mikel Merino – Made his long anticipated debut and looked very decent. (7)

Gabriel Jesus – Showed off his selfish side on some occasions when a pass to his teammate would have been the better option. (6)

Myles Lewis-Skelly – Didn’t play long enough to get a rating.
