Arsenal fans have been hoping to get a very good backup for Bukayo Saka since he took over as the first-choice right winger from Nicolas Pepe in the early days of Mikel Arteta’s time at Arsenal.
Pepe had his contract terminated and moved to Trabzonspor, leaving Reiss Nelson as the only natural backup for Saka. Arteta hasn’t really trusted Nelson enough, and the wait continued. Saka continued to play week in, week out without any replacements, and Arsenal only take him out of action when he’s nursing injuries.
This season, Arsenal signed Raheem Sterling on loan from Chelsea and in the handful of chances he has featured. From all indications, the Chelsea winger is unlikely to be retained by Arsenal, which would force Edu Gaspar to delve into the transfer market to find an ideal right winger for the club.
Arsenal tipped to sign Bournemouth’s talismanic winger
Since Dominic Solanke departed Bournemouth for Tottenham Hotspurs, Antoine Semenyo has stepped up to become a talismanic player for the Cherries. Even with star forward, Evanilson, joining the club from FC Porto with huge fanfare, Semenyo is the one that has been the glue that has kept the attack together, playing consistently and is currently one of the league leaders for shots in the division. The Ghanaian winger enjoyed an incredible start to the Premier League campaign, with three goals in his first six games for Bournemouth.
According to Team Talk, Arsenal is tipped to sign Semenyo from Bournemouth and the Gunners got a first hand view of the winger’s impact, as he played so well in Bournemouth’s 2-0 win over Mikel Arteta’s side. Semenyo will not be a certain starter at the Emirates, but he will provide a quality depth option and will allow Arteta manage Saka’s minutes, which is something the Arsenal gaffer still struggles with till this day.
